CRC Coalition together with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) organized the 3rd National Plan of Action for Children (NPAC) orientation to the members of Children Talk to Children (C2C) last April 26 to 27.
Chief of the Policy and Planning Division of CWC, Connie Salcedo emphasized on the roles of all members of society to ensure that the medium-term plan (2017-2022) goals are realized.
These 4 goals are in line with the core rights of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: Survival (Goal 1: Children have a better quality and improved way of life), Development (Goal 2: Children are well nourished, have healthy lives, active learners, with good quality education, Protection (Goal 3: Children are safe and free from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and Participation (Goal 4: Children actively participate in decision-making processes affecting their lives according to their evolving capacities).
Children raised their concerns to regarding K to 12, birth registration, child labor, teenage pregnancy, child participation, and the child protection policy of the Department of Education.
Members of C2C conducted brainstorming sessions in cascading the plan to their own communities such as UN CRC orientation, house to house visitation, unity walks, consultation with local officials, and symposium on the 3rd NPAC in order to monitor its implementation, among others.
Child-led organizations who were part of the event include Active Youth Movement, Canossa Children and Youth Organization, Children and Youth Organization, ChildHope, Gem’s Heart, Kalasag, PILAK, Open Heart Foundation Youth Movement, PAKAPAM, Reina Federation, Samahan ng Mamayan – Zone One Tondo Organization, Vides Youth Core Group, Youth Meets the Children Organization.
