On November 20, 1989, United Nations General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) with the goal of protecting the rights of each children across the globe considering their vulnerability. As its main mandate, the Civil Society Coalition on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC Coalition) monitors the implementation of the treaty in the Philippines by submitting periodic reports to the UN CRC and other human rights bodies since 1994. For this year, CRC Coalition will launch its NGO Alternative Report to present the wins, gaps and recommendations from civil society organizations and children all over the Philippines. This is a result of a series of island-wide consultations with children, thematic cluster reports prepared by its members, and results of other consultations, workshops and focus group discussions organized by CRC Coalition.
